About the image collection THE BLACK AND BLUES:
This collection -started in 2010- was conceived as a supplement to the forgotten life of Eva Schippers, showing the parts of an artistic practise that are seldom exposed; failures, unfinished ideas, stolen sentences, unwritten stories. The collection starts with the most recent finds and then goes back in time until 1997, the year when I started collecting to remember. These fragments are collected in chronological order and at certain moments the images are connected and manifest themselves as posters, on pin boards or part of books and publications. Archiving is a method to remember, reuse and appropriate as an artist, and maybe more important it is a neurotic necessity to gain control over all the images and ideas that flood over us each day. It is a transient attempt to display a complete collection of ideas and a practise that is always in motion, by marking the moment.
